We went to see Disney's Lion King and Marybeth and I were both very disappointed. I commented afterwards that 10 minutes in I was looking for the remote control to change the channel. Marybeth commented during the show that we were seated in the "Peanut Gallery" due to the impecunious class of patron surrounding us. Lots of children kicking the backs of chairs, teenagers playing with their camera phones, and people talking throughout the show. But this has little to do with the 3 stars we give it. The rating we gave is for the interesting costumes, otherwise it would have been a lower rating, we were really disappointed with the performance.
We have found that the quality of shows at the Pantages are not as high as I would expect. The singing dancing, and acting seem more on par with a community theater production than a national touring company. Before the show we purchased tickets to Wicked for next year, and that number was in my head. Had I remembered that we had only paid $15 each for the tickets to the Lion King I think we would have left at intermission.
